The last Mercury Sable rolled off the Atlanta Assembly Plant on Friday, April 29, 2005. The Taurus will live on until March of 2006, mostly going to rental fleets. No new Ford products have been slated to replace the two models when production is ended. The silver Sable marked the end of an era when Ford had huge name recognition with the Taurus/Sable twins and let it just slip away. Any bets on Ranger winning the next "let's kill years of number one selling product name recognition" race?
