Chevy T2X debuts in Korea
The T2X concept truck, built off the S3X show truck (which is really based on the Theta architecture: VUE, Equinox) has an almost fastback-like shape that looks more car than truck. It uses two clamshell doors for rear access and has a real chance at production in Asia and Europe. Once again we ask: Why aren't we looking at North American production of such a vehicle? By far it eclipses anything offered here by GM. Wait, GM doesn't offer anything like that here. More pictures at the link.

Build it here (North America) GM for pete's sake! What will it take for them to realize that they need to bring it here?

As much as I want this car in the North American market (and I do), It just dosent' make sense to sell this car here. Most 2-door SUV's of this type haven't been successful in the North American market. Remember the VehiCROSS???

It's not 2 door. Think ION Quad Coupe.
I say bring it.

Are you sure this isn't a Mazda concept? All the current Mazda design cues are there, from the grill to the RX8's front fenders. This is their new cute ute, right?

Front design reminds me of a Mazda

Add some suicide doors, ala RX-8 with a few more inches on the wheel base and you've got your four door crossover that looks like a two door. I don't see any reason why this would be a problem other than GM has its head up its butt.
When all is said and done, GM is a fairly good/competative car company. It just can't execute for sh!t.

If I have to guess, base on the size and position of the headrest, this vehicle is a RAV-4 sized SUV. Even the Honda CRV seems bigger than this. What's the pre-high-gas-prices health condition of the compact SUV market? What about now? Is GM willing to be selling a smaller than Equanox SUV? I imagine it's not going to be anywhere as profittable as Tohoes and Yukons.

Now GM is getting somewhere. I like it enough to buy it. (Anyone notice that Acura/Mazda-esque grill? Looks good.)

Speaking of GM, anyone read this latest article in Businessweek?

Something like this would help GM's image here. But I wonder if the interior is going to match the coolness of the exterior. From my past experience they don't and really kill the vehicle's cohesiveness.

Ben's got a good point. The Equinox wasn't bad until you opened the doors. Cheap plastic and cloth abound.

It's interesting that there is no branding on this car. Maybe it would be a good Saturn Vue replacement.

Well, nevermind. For some reason, I thought Equinox had a longer "trunk" like the old Blazer, but visiting GM's gallery and compared it to this concept, it looks like they shorten the vehicle from the back by a little, and sacrafice the headroom and the severely crop the back to give it more sleek look.
Footprint-wise, it'll be similiar to the current Equinox, but not quite as roomy.

Remember the Chevrolet Borrego concept car from 2001? This is somewhat reminiscent. Still wish they had produced the Borrego....

Just this morning I was looking for a Z06 wallpaper and noticed pictures of the S3X concept and thought it could be cool. I think if Chevy released something like the S3X to compete with the RAV4 & CR-V, they might have something. I liked the design for the VUE/Equinox, until they cheaped out on them. Maybe the Pontiac Torrent will be the Theta triplet that actually turns out alright as an overall package.
I still wonder how some of their lower margin cars could turn out if they could take ~$1K of legacy costs attached to the vehicle and feed it back into the product.

holy crap josiah! you're right! they look freaking 1200% identical!! they even made them the same exact colors!!!! what a bunch of ripoffs!!! mercedes should sue them into the ground for making such a blatant copy of their designs!!! no one ever had taillights ever that looked like that!! only mercedes ever!!!!111!!1
... anyway. and yeah. i wished they made the Borrego too since there was a serious EJ20T+AWD dearth in this country at that time... until they wised up and brought the original one here. and i bought one and it was awesome. the end.
