AMG Challenge proves a challenge
I recently received an e-invite from Mercedes Benz to attend their 2005 AMG Challenge. The list of activities sounds sensible enough— until the last item: "blood pumping thrill rides with pro drivers". Now that's what I'm talking about. Only one problem. All the links— 2004 highlights, dates and track locations, and registration— are dead. You couldn't ask for a more apt reflection of Mercedes' difficulties with electronics. Or a more frustrating example of bait and can't switch.

it's full b/c you're late. most MB owners received the link/e-mail a few months ago and have already signed up.

I attended a similar event called x-celerate. www.mbspeed.com. It was excellent. For $100, I was able to "fully enjoy" a drive in just about every variation of MB. This included 2 spirited driving laps on a road course in a E55 (can spin it's tires at 115mph on IRP's drag strip), 2 in an SL55 (got up to 135mph), 2 in a c55 (dull after the past two), a timed competitive auto-x in a SLK350 (I set the best time of the day :-) ), and a ride in a CL600. The rest of the time (4 hours) was spent playing in C and E class cars. I was only told to cool it once (when people started cheering for me). Great food, great fun. 1st class all the way. They have a new event, more of a driving school, that costs $1000+. I'd recommend Skip Barber (or similar) for that $$$.

Did you use Internet Explorer? It won't work on Mozilla. I just tried the email again and was able to get in, look around and get to the registration form. Oh and it costs $1195 per person so it's probably more school like JonF. points out.
