Nothing is made public as to how much money Ferrari actually spend annually in F1, but most every estimate seems to be in the $500 million per year ballpark. Sponsorship money is rolled into the money spent each year, and figures prominently into an F1 team's budget.
Sponsorship costs are a closely guarded secret, but Ferrari's title sponsor Marlboro likely spends in excess of $80 million per year to have their logo in the most prominent positions on the car. Starting in mid-2005 tobacco advertising will be outlawed at certain races on the F1 calendar, yet rumor has it that Marlboro may purchase all the advertising space on the 2006 Ferrari F1 car for $150 million per year. They will simply run the car without the Marlboro name on the car, but keep a likeness of the logo on the car.
The cost of F1 is astromonical, especially when you consider that the entire grid spends an estimated $2+ billion dollars per year.
