India is breaking into F1 in a big way. Last week signed on with Jordan Toyota as the first ever Formula One racing driver from India. Friday, Bernie Ecclestone announced that India would "definitely" have a race with all bets on it being held in Bombay. India is putting up big bucks behind Karthikeyan and looking to become a factor in F1 racing.

Karthikeyan will likely be another Alex Yoong. A pay driver with some talent, the money to buy a ride with a backmarker, but not nearly what it takes to be successful in F1. F1 saw this happen with Yoong, Malaysia threw lots of money his way to get him into, and keep him in F1...even when it was painfully obvious he was completely out of his league.
I'm all for new talent in F1, but "pay drivers" (where a driver pays for his race seat), is ridiculous. The only thing more ridiculous, is the fact that the small budget teams are basically forced to do this to complete their budgets and remain on the grid. So we have second, and third rate drivers (if they're even that high quality), driving in what is supposed to be a series filled with the best drivers in the world. But that gets to a whole different topic altogether....
