Toyota Avalon reviewed
NewCarTestDrive.com, which not surprisingly test drives new cars
and writes about them, has an extensive take on the new Toyota Avalon. Just reading through the driving impressions you
can almost doze off because the writer does such a tremendous job conveying the contentment provided by this large
sedan. As expected the new Avalon is a great ride with lots of comfort features and the Touring model even offers a
little driving excitement. But like the writer says "that's not what the Avalon is about." Add the 22/30 mpg rating and
all the superlatives in this review and it sounds like Toyota has another winner in their stable.

Wow. That is one truly ugly Toyota. I mean, Toyota is famous for making real dozers - the new Camry's headlights look like giant bug splatters smeared down the sides of the car. But this Avalon is far uglier than I expected. It looks like a cross between the previous-generation Camry (with it's cheap plastic grille) and the current Nissan Maxima, which is plenty ugly in its own right.

If the current Avalon has kept the interior theme from the previous models, then it's fantastic to sit in. Especially in the front seats (do they still offer the bench?), with the low dash curving away from you, with light-colored materials and lots of glass. Open and airy. It's really, really nice.
