New Lexus GS 430 not half bad
Regular readers know I'm not a big fan of Lexus. Yes, they make nice, quality cars that offer
a lot of luxury for the money. But to me there isn't much soul to them. Even Acura seems to have more of an edge than
Lexus. But after seeing the new GS 430 at the Detroit Auto Show I found myself admiring the style of a Lexus for the
first time since the brand debuted. It's hard to see here but the lines that run from the headlights on back are very
sculpted and add a touch of flair. Even the grill seems a bit more aggressive. The tail is boring and Honda-like but
could be worse. I do like the lip spoiler though.

I am getting more of a Saab feel from the front end and Honda Accord feel from the tail.

agree that it is saab-ish up front.

grille and headlights look good but that ridge bump in the hood that continues into the A-pillar looks like a misaligned copy of the Mercedes E-class hood.

Yep saabish nose, with a slight hint of volvo on the hood side, then look at the back its got a honda rack with a nissan ass. Bottom line though Lexus buyers are like Apple buyers, they'll buy it just 'cause it has the logo slapped on to it. Or wait is that the BMW buyer hehe. . .

The back end reminds me of the current US Accord back end. Looks awfully bland. The previous GS was very unique when it was introduced and elements of its styling were adopted all over the place (ie. current Nissan Altima). The new GS looks like nothing special and looks like it will fit in with Lexus' current 'blah' lineup.
