Ah, yes, what a Jeep should be. I'm hoping that we are not only seeing what the next generation Wrangler will look like, but a true Scrambler off-shoot. Jeep hasn't had a real pickup truck in a while and I think it's time they got back into the game. Drop the goofy, rear view blocking spare tire, and we have a production vehicle here. More pics and info inside.

woof
this concept is way better! nice job, jeep!
Brian @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
I understand goofy but I dont understand blocking. If you want to see a tire that is blocking then try the link above from rwcmick, thats what I call ugly and blocking.
Keep up the great coverage! You guys ROCK!

I guess I really mean rear quarter view. I drive a convertible and I know how much can hide in that little space that the tire is blcoking for the driver. Just bad placement.
tony @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
Thats where it was on the original Gladiator in the fifties and sixties , I want one its really cool
eliot @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
Very nice! I'll take one. I love how it has that military look, but isn't ridiculously unusable in town (ahem, Hummer). I think you'd get a lot of looks on this truck.
Ole @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
This truck will sell. I would buy it at the right price. It brings back the days a truck looked like a truck. The spare tire can remain for me or put there as an option. If the off road capability is reminiscent of the real Jeep, it will be a winner.
Alfred @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
I think that little opening on the rear door is for dogs?
Jim @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
I haven't found any specs on the Gladiator, but if it comes in 3/4 ton and with a diesel engine, I'll buy one.
I think it looks awsome as is.
Steve @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
What are those little things behind the front seats? Large cup holders? They can't be rear seats. I'll take one in Silver anyway.
MIKE @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
Best looking truck i've seen in a while. How good would that look sittin in the driveway next to the wifes Liberty?
John Williams @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
Would be nice to have the back seating area slightly larger. But overall this concept is GREAT! I presently have a 1991 Jeep Comanche, which has been a fantastic pickup. IF the Gladiator is priced right, I will be first in line to get one!
Mick Cowles @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
I like everything about it. I might modify the drivers side mirror mount in order to keep the retro spare tire mount. If they produce it I'll order one for sure.
Brian Bayless @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
Hello....Jeep rocks!!! It's about time someone got away from the rounded pickups, this looks awesome, I'll be fighting to be first in line to get one, right after the cold shower.
Gary Cooper @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
Coolest thing I've thing that I've seen in a long time.I hope they start production soon.I would really like to have one.The side mount spare isn't a problem. However, if the back seat had just a little bit more space it would be easier to convince the missus that it would be a great buy.
Victor Atherton @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
This is the Truck I have always dreamed about. I have never bought a new vehicle and I own a 1957 Chevy BelAir that I would sell in a heart beat to get ahold of this truck just to play with in the summer. especially this green!!! Way to go JEEP:)
Brian Knutson @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
About time! It looks great. Retro and contemporary at the same time.
I can't believe Hummer has gotten over stealing their design from Jeep. I can't wait until Jeep rolls back in the market w/ their concepts and kicks Hummer square in the...
Great job guys! Oh, this is way better than that Scrambler concept...and the Unlimited rules as well. Let's have'em all!!
Nate Hutchins @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
make mine red with a diesel, where do I sign.
it will be the perfect tow rig for my 47' CJ2A.
Mike Sumner @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
I have been contemplating buying a Wrangler and/or a new pickup truck for over a year now. I am leaning towards a pickup truck because I need a truck bed to haul stuff around my rental properties etc. Please make this Gladiator and make sure it is priced affordably. My mind would be made up and the money is in the bank.
drew @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
Great Idea- just hope they get enough room in the back seat to park the kids without becoming too long. This one needs to be built!
Joss Grandeau @ Dec 18th 2005 10:33PM
What an AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME vehicle! I LOVE the spare tire placement... Jeep should just design extendable outside mirrors to offset that little obstruction accordingly for production. The few other modifications I would make would be to take the back seat out altogether as it is really unusable. Also, a HEMI V8 with an AUTOMATIC transmission should be an option. The front fenders should also be half metal and half plastic, as on the current Wranglers... would look better I think. The bed "rails" should have some kind of openings to accomodate mountings for a canvas cover or camper shell. Finally, an ONSTAR option would be fantastic on all JEEP vehicles... you never know where you might get stranded on the trail! Other than that, that vehicle is perfect! CONGRATS to the JEEP DESIGNERS... PLEASE, BUILD this vehicle, will ya? :)
