I was just doing my loyal research online and checked in on the Volkswagen media page. Boy was I surprised to find a plethora, yes plethora, of new Jetta images. Click below for more. I currently own a 2004 1.8T, great performance combined with the simple German design. This is the 4th VW I have owned and the 2nd Jetta. It will be my last Jetta if they don't do something about the look of the 05.5 and 06's. Does anybody know where I can write or call VW and voice my opinon. I've explained myself to the local dealer. The answer I got was, VW had to do something to compete in the American market. They were losing market share to the Japanese cars so they designed the car to look more Asian.

I was SO disappointed to see the new "style"! It looks like an everyday Toyota, no style, not fun, not upscale and definitely nothing European about the looks. As much as I love Jetta's, if they don't change the style in 2007, I'll have to look for a different brand :(

At least I had a nice 5 year run of owning the latest body style. Then I saw the spy pics in a mag and thought, 'I still own the best looking Jetta model.' I checked out the 05 and I must say the interior is superior, but that's it. 5 cylinders? 150 horses? That awful chrome face? The rear stripped straight from a (gasp) Tercel? My car is better lookin, has 174 horses, and 6 cylinders. I'll come back to VW when they decide to look European and not Japanese. Hopefully they don't ruin Audi too.

I nearly cried at what they did to that sexy and tough 04 body. I hope it's a phase they grow out of soon since I really don't want to give up my VW loyality.

December 29 2004 at 10:55 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replymy favorite pictures are the interior and the engine bay. although I think the 5 cylinder is great for the jetta it sure doesn't look like much room there for tuners to work and I'm sure the VW guys would love a more powerful starting block. wonder what they think of all this.
