The NHTSA is "demanding" that DCX recall some 600,000 2000 to 2003 Durangos and Dakotas for failing ball joints. From my memory, I think the Jeep Liberty was recalled for the same problem last year. NHTSA found defective ball joints in nearly a third of the 4 wheel drive trucks it investigated. Almost all the ball joints were manufactured in a plant in Indiana. Keep searching for the lowest bidder for parts and forcing cost-cutting and the recalls will continue.
