If you've seen an A6 in person yet you know that the "big mouth" grill makes it recognizable from miles away. So imagine Audi's thoughts when the new VW Gti came out with a very similar grill. Fired Audi NA chief Axel Mees said of the similarity, "It's certainly hard to understand." What's really hard to understand is why the leadership of these two brands is not taking more control over what products are being designed and how the similarity and direction of both could harm each other. Obviously the designers of these vehicles knew what the other was doing, or at least VW's did. I naturally thought this similar design cue was intentional, but it sounds like VW is stepping on Audi's toes.
