Mazda has taken down the fictitious blog featuring full videos of ads depicting the Mazda 3 doing some goofy stuff. We reported on the blog initially two weeks ago. The viral ads were a very weak attempt at alternative marketing and MediaPost does an excellent job recapping the entire story. One really intriguing part of the MediaPost piece is this: The site received only a few page views and now as one insider pointed out "The net cost to Mazda is much greater than meets the eye, and Mazda now needs to deal with the ugly reality of this mishap resurrecting itself every time a consumer—or a media writer or a financial analyst—Googles the term 'Mazda blog." Sometimes when you miss, you miss big.
