The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class is getting hotter by the day. First they convinced Christina Aguilera to pitch the three-pointed star, now they're announcing that among the seven (count 'em) engine offerings will be a 193-hp turbocharged unit that can rock the 0-60 sprint in around eight ticks. The semi-lux hot hatch will carry six less powerful engines, in both gasoline and diesel configurations. The A-Class will be available in Europe this fall, and possibly in the United States sometime in 2005. With the emphasis on possibly.
